Rambakan Oya commissioned today
Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said that the construction work of the Rambakan Oya project will be completed before the end of this year. Rambakan Oya is the 10th Mahaweli Zone. The expenditure of this project will amount to 2,500 million rupees. The Minister said that along with the project huge development activities will be carried out in the area. The Minister made these comments at a meeting held at the Bollagala Raja Maha Viharaya of Maha Oya to enlighten the officials about the project. He said that the project will provide muchfacilities to the people who were subjugated by the scourge of terrorism for the last 30 years. 2,500 families will be provided land through this project. Several roads including Maha Oya - Aralangavila road will be developed. The Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Madulla, Maha Oya and Padiyathalawa will come under the Rambakenoya project. Minister P. Dayarathne, parliamentarian Sarath Weerasekara, the governor of the Eastern Province Rear Admiral Mohan Wijewickrema also participated at this discussion.
