Kumar sangakkara hits record 169 against South Africa
July 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka's classy batsman Kumar Sangakkara broke his own one-day record today when he smashed 169 off 137 balls against South Africa at the R. Premadasa Stadium (RPS) in Colombo in the first match of the 5-match ODI series.
Sangakkara, whose previous best of 138 not out was against India in 2005, scored the highest total by a Sri Lankan batsman at home and led Sri Lanka to a formidable 320 for 5 after South Africa won the toss and set Sri Lanka to bat.
This is Sangakkara's 16th century in his 350th ODI.
