Japan women cricket team 21 runs all out
Sri Lanka women continued their powerful steak as they crushed opponents Japan with an outstanding performance, winning by 10 wickets at the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier.
Japan batted first scoring just 21 runs in 18.1 overs as Ayako Nakayama was the only batter to make a significant contribution of 12 runs. The Sri Lankan bowling unit shared wickets around as Eshani Kaushalya (5 for 2), Sripali Weerakkody 2 for 2) and Chandima Gunaratne (2 for 2) all put in professional performances.
Sri Lanka managed to score the winning runs in 1.4 overs, Yasoda Mendis (18) scoring 4 fours and Jayangani (4) confirming victory for the Sri Lankan team and a semi-final spot.
‘We wanted to keep them under 30 runs, our fast bowlers did really well and it was a great effort by our spinners. We aimed to bat losing no wickets, so I was very happy with the whole performance. We will be ready for the next match against Ireland and hope to keep the momentum going,” said skipper Shashikala Siriwardene.
