O/L exam time table released

The time table for the GCE Ordinary Level examinations 2012 have been released on the Department of Examinations website, the Government Information Department stated.

The time table can be downloaded from www.doenets.lk, the Government Information Department further stated.

Nov 18, Colombo: The results of the Korean Language Proficiency Test held in Sri Lanka have been released, says the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau.

The results are available online at www.eps.go.kr and www.slbfe.lk websites.

Passing the Korean Language Proficiency Test is the basic qualification for recruitment of Sri Lankan youth seeking jobs in Korea. The jobs are offered via Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau.

Many skilled and unskilled youth employees sit for this examination hoping to migrate to South Korea for a lucrative income.

Nearly 22 percent or 5,302 out of the 24,276 candidates sat for the eighth Korean Language Proficiency Test held on October 30 and 31, 2 candidates have passed the examination.

Yesterday the Crime Protection Unit of Walana,Panadura has raided a hotel in the Moratuwa area, where it had revealed that it was a brothel having done business in the pretext of a hotel. The Police had found two prostitutes and a Manager who is supposed to be a retired Police Sergeant. There had been a small child of 1 ½ years old who had been playing with retired Police Sergeant.
The Police had deployed a man to wear a female dress and to talk to the Manager in disguise. The information had been obtained from the Manager who had told the charges are Rs 8000/-( Rupees eight thousand only) per hour. The owner who had been one Samudra Hikkaduwa who had been the second runner up in the Miss Sri Lanka contest in the year 1996.Since then she had portrayed roles in Tele dramas and a number of other films.
The Police had questioned the owner and had arrested the Manager and the two prostitutes.
